so one presidential election ago. talking about health care which has become a big issue over the past couple of years with president obama passing what is now known as obama care and mitt romney saying he will repeal that. in addition to that, they're going to spend a segment talking about the role of government, also talking about governing. which is interesting because a lot of this campaign is mitt romney and barack obama talking about how they would work in washington. and as we know the american public are so frustrated right now with how washington is operating or is not operating at all. so there's a lot on the line for mitt romney, barack obama tomorrow night. tens of millions of people will be watching. of course, a lot here on cnn. there is over 3,000 journalists who are actually credentialed to come and cover this debate. 700 of them are from other countries. so the whole world will be watching. >> and jim lahr is the moderator for debate number one. how long do the candidates get to answer the questions?

they went for obama in record numbers back in 2008. and in september it was pretty much a lot of the same. the president has an 18-point lead along likely women voters in the pew research poll. things changed dramatically, folks. ty take a peek. one month from election day and as paul steinhauser likes to say, it's all knotted up. why is this such a big deal 1234 it's a big deal because it's about math. there are about 10 million more women voters this election cycle than then. joining me to talk about the women and the election is no finer a guest on this topic than the glamour magazine editor in chief, cindy levianp. you had a chance in this issue to sit down one-on-one with president obama and you got to really focus on the women issue. he's aware clearly -- >> yes. >> -- of how important this sector is. >> the fact he sat down with us shows how much the women's vote matter to him. >> did you feel like it was platitude upon platitudes that interviews can be? >> i felt like he spoke to the issues our readers care about. we had done a

the obama campaign is, like, offering this prebuttal. good strategy? >> well, i think they're very much on unsafe turf here. this is a president whose only foreign policy experience when he was elected was as a state senator in illinois which is none. second of all, this is the exact same president who got caught whispering in the ear of the russians that we were going to be more flexible negotiating missile defense after the election. what type of strategy is that when you tell your major adversary you're basically going to roll over for them on a critical foreign policy issue? so i think that actually obama is now going into unsafe turf for him. i think that this makes mitt romney look very presidential. >> l.z., have the tables turned? president obama is vulnerable on the libya question since it took the administration so long to admit it really was a terrorist attack that killed four americans there. >> you know, i had to laugh. because while it is true, senator obama did not have a lot of foreign policy experience, what he did to shore that up was

at the next presidential debate october 16th, a townhall style debate. this could be kind of tough. the questions are typically prescreened. these kind of gimmicks, this kind of schtick is typical for compa companies, promotions tied to big events, such as the super bowl, to get in on the conversation and make money off of it. 7-eleven is running a seven election. pick a candidate by buying a blue donkey cup for obama or red elephant cup for romney when you go in to buy your morning coffee. 7-eleven has done this in the past election. this promotion lined up perfectly with the results of the 2004 and 2008 elections? yes, 7-eleven does keep a running tab on how many cups each color is selling. one more to tell you about, my personal favorite -- jetblue is offering its election protection. basically go online, vote for a candidate. if your guy doesn't win, you could win a ticket out of the country. better yet, it's a round trip so you can come back, too. go on. vote for who is going to lose. i'm going to go on, vote for who is going to lose and i'm going to go to barbados. you want to

president obama said that preparing for the debate was quote a drag. in the meantime, mitt romney says it's not about who wins or loses, it's about who -- well, he didn't say anything about a game. but he said, we have serious issues at play here. both men have been practicing for the debate. joining me now, the political professor, jason johnson and republican strategist thank you so much. for some reason i'm a little off kilter now, but i'm fine. jason, you know, i'm just wondering about this pennsylvania ruling. a judge ruled you don't have to show your i.d. before you vote in pennsylvania. of course, that's on appeal. but on the day of the election, you won't have to show your voter i.d. will that make a difference for democrats, let's say? >> that's going to be a huge difference for democrats. you had the republican head of the state senate saying that voter i.d. was going to hand pennsylvania to mitt romney. well, now the state is at play. so mitt romney has to compete fairly, there's not going to be any voter i.d. laws disenfranchising people. i
